WHY WE BELIEVE WHAT WE BELIEVE

1. IT IS RIGHT IN ITS BUILDER Matthew 16:13-19. The church we read of in the New Testament was built on that great bedrock of Truth that Jesus is the Son of God.

 

2. IT IS RIGHT IN ITS SOURCE OF AUTHORITY Ephesians 1:20-23. The Bible teaches that the church has one head – Christ.  Colossians 1:18, “And he is the head of the body, the church”. Ephesians 5:23-25, “For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;”  

 

3. IT IS RIGHT IN ITS CHURCH GOVERNMENT Philippians 1:1. Christ is the head of the church. Hence He is called the King. 1 Timothy 6:15 calls Jesus the, “blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords.” In the New Testament we read that each congregation had a plurality of elders if there were men qualified. The qualifications are set forth in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. We also see Deacons serving under the leadership of the elders.

 

4. IT IS RIGHT IN ITS WORSHIP Colossians 3:17.

• Singing – Ephesians 5:19

• Praying – 1 Timothy 2:1-2

• Lord’s Supper – Acts 20:7

• Preaching – Acts 20:7; 2 Timothy 4:1-4

• Giving – 1 Corinthians 16:1-2

 

5.  IT IS RIGHT IN ITS PLAN OF SALVATION

• Hear Acts 15:7, 1 Cor 15: 1-4

• Believe Mark 15:15-16, John 8:24

• Repent Acts 17:30, 2 Pet 3:9, Rom 2:3

• Confess Rom. 10:9, Matt 10:32-33

• Be Baptized Acts 2:38 & 22:16, Eph. 4:5

Won’t you obey God’s Plan of Salvation and the Lord will add you to HIS church, the Church of Christ.​
